Danna L. Walker, Ph.D.Danna Walker, Ph.D., became an academic in 2003 after a lifetime of filing urgents on a news wire, chasing down members of Congress for stories, and staking out suspected lawbreakers as a journalist. She has taught journalism, communication, critical theory and writing at American University, George Washington University, the University of Maryland and now Georgetown University (as of summer 2010). Her work has been published in newspapers, on the internet and in academic journals. Her dissertation was printed as a book, Women and Media: An Activist’s Fight for Equality.

Danna has a bachelor’s degree from Northeast Louisiana University, an MA from Georgetown University and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. She is a master in the coaching method of teaching writing and she has been a coach on the noted Web site, Academic Ladder, since 2009. She has worked as a reporter, a producer and editor with some of the best-known journalists of our time, including Helen Thomas and Bob Schieffer. She lives in Kensington, Md., with her husband and two teenage children.
